MPS Can Campaign

MPS Plc, a leading midlands telecoms business, had found that their current and prospective clients didn't know about the large range of areas that MPS could help with and so approached 80-20 to provide them with a 'Calendar' give-away that would highlight the different services MPS can offer.

80-20 had already redesigned the MPS identity and so had a good knowledge of the MPS client-base. With this in mind 80-20 created a steel desk-top calendar can. The dates were printed on the can with a silver-printed polypropylene sleeve placed around it, clear areas in the sleeve revealed not only the dates, but also different business services – two per month. To ensure the cans would be kept on clients desktops they were designed to be deep enough to keep pens inside (or sweets if preferred), although, as the cans are high-tech and have a very 'designer' feel to them, nearly all the 2,500 MPS clients who have received the cans say that they keep the them on their desktops because they look good.

To develop the MPS Can campaign further, 80-20 are providing regular creative direct mail pieces based on 'things that can go into the can' – most recently cocktail umbrellas – along with a sales message that matches the 'business service of the month' revealed on the calendar.
